Stats

I’ve been DXing here for a long, long time. Here are a few statistics to chew on.

New Stations Logged by Year

Just a few notes on the graph above. New logs include both Es and tropo logs, with at least 95% of them being skip. The years 2019, 2023 and 2024 were the worst summers for skip that I’ve encounterd. 2025 seem to have turned around with the amount of skip received at almost 40 stations. Even though I have 16-18 stations in two local radio markets broadcasting in HD and once empty channels now full of translators and some LPFMs, I still was able to log a decent amount of new stations thanks to antenna phasing and picking off PI codes on my TEF radio. It seems that I need to use both the TEF and the SDR with phasing to do allright in this environment.

Es Events in May by Year
Some say the skip season begins in most of North America in May. That's debatable. Not always. A glance at the chart shows that there was more skip observed in May during the early 2000s than after 2008.
