Ya know, most of the time I really do like running my own TEF webserver. I really do. But there are time you just feel like punching your fist through a wall or just calling it quits.
If I have a problem, the problem is with users. Granted, most of them are really young but nice and fun to talk to, but a few will drive you crazy and make you think about giving it all up and using your laptop for something completely different.
I found this piece of chat on another webserver recently and snagged it. It will givce you some idea about what I am talking about. What I’m talking about is
a. Users who stay on your server and won’t leave.
b. Users who act like your server is their server because they are using it.
c. Users who get banned but come right back because they have a mobile carrier with 57 different IP addresses and you can’t ban them all.
d. Users who are too imature to be using your webserver.
e. Users who will enter your webserver while you are listening to music on your favorite station and suddenly tune it to something else you can’t stand.
Yes, friends, sometimes you just have to disable chat and leave it off for a while until you can get your sanity back. It’s great not to have to see one or two teenagers make stupid remarks and act like toddlers in your chat window.
I need a drink.
