Welcome to the wonderful world of HD radio! Well, I’m using a little sarcasm here.
Most of you have never heard of it. Some of you have but don’t care. Just how do you get “HD radio”?
To make a very long story short, you need an HD radio to be able to listen to HD radio stations. A few cars have them. You might find an HD radio on eBay or Amazon. 99% of all the radios in North America do not have HD capability. That goes for car radios, too. And no, HD radio is not HDTV. Not even close. Don’t confuse them.
So, how do you know if you think you’ll want an HD radio? That’s a great question. I just might have an answer.
What you will find here is a listing of all HD radio stations in the Greater Hartford area and a few Springfield area stations also. I’ll show you what’s broadcast on HD radio. You tell me if you think it’s worth buying (or trying to buy) an HD radio to hear it. You be the judge.
I could go on and on about HD radio, but I won’t. If you can’t hear any HD2s or Hd3s or even a funky HD4 when you tune your HD radio to a specific station, if just might be that you are too far away from that station to be able to decode it. If you are more than 20 miles from the station, your HD reception is problematic.
And now, here is my listing of area HD radio stations and their content. Have fun.

NRSC5 Studio Software!
You can listen to HD Radio on your PC. Get NRSC5 Studio software here. The developer says that his software will work on Windows, Linux and MacOS. I have it installed on a Windows machine(.exe) and a Linux machine (Mint)(.deb) and it does work well. You will receive any HD2, 3 or 4 being broadcast in your area. Here is what the software looks like. It is very flexible.
