I thought some might find this information interesting. I sure do, being a long time (10yr) linux user. This was found on another tech site (Jeff Pro) and shows the slow decline of Windows 11 and the rise of linux. It just warms my heart.
Notice that Windows is beginning to take a dive to around 54% market share. Linux is now up to 17% matching macOS.
Linux has got some great distros (flavors) out there. Mint is great, Ubuntu is good and so is Debian. But more important than the distros, linux has some great DEs (desktop environments) that are more flexible and configurable (and prettier) than the Windows desktop. My personal choice is the Cinnamon desktop. No matter how I want to configure it, I can change whatever I don’t care for and make it mine. I can use any of the three distros mentioned with Cinnamon (and with even more). KDE is another good choice and you can use it with Ubuntu (Kubuntu) and Debian. If you can use Windows, you can use these.
I’ll mention one more distro called Zorin. If you want to make the switch, that’s another one to try. Mint or Zorin. Easy to get used to. Zorin OS doesn’t get as much press that the other I’ve mentioned but it’s a solid distro.
Now that Windows is down to 54% market share, can we push it down further to 40% or even 35%?
